Barber Shop Mcas Miramar - Welcome to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, just outside of beautiful San Diego, California! Formerly known as "Fighter City USA", MCAS Miramar was formerly the site of the US Navy's Strike Fighter Tactic Instructor program, better known as the Artillery. The base itself dates back to 1918. During World War II, the base was used by the 2nd Naval Command as a naval training center. In 1947, the Navy moved to MCAS El Toro in Orange County, California, while the Navy moved and renamed Naval Air Station Miramar. Half of the base was used by the Air Force for the Orion program and later by NASA for several space launches. In 1993, the Commission on Base Improvement and Decommissioning closed MCAS El Toro and MCAS Tustin and the base returned to the Marine Corps, and the 3rd Marine Corps returned.

Miramar Naval Base covers 23,116 acres north of San Diego. It is home to more than 15,000 military personnel and their families, including all branches of service and civilian contractors.

San Diego International Airport is the closest airport to the base. Located northwest of downtown San Diego, the airport is about 20 miles south of the Naval Air Station. The closest major airports are John Wayne Airport, about 80 miles north in Orange County, and Los Angeles International Airport, about 120 miles north in Los Angeles.

There is no direct train service from San Diego, Orange County or Los Angeles airports to MCAS Miramar.

Of The Best Things To Do In Mcas Miramar

When moving, the DMO will arrange the transportation of your household goods. Whether you are doing a Do-It-Yourself (DITY) move or a government move with a moving company, the DMO will organize all aspects of your move and be where you submit your reimbursement request.

Guards will perform 100% identity checks at all gates. All visitors must have a valid military ID or go to the Visitor Control Center to pass. Due to the current COVID measures, be sure to show your ID with the barcode in front of the guard so he can scan it without touching them. All enlisted personnel will report to the Joint Reception Center (JRC) located in Building 2258. Marines must report in their Service Alpha uniform. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:30. Inspections of personnel after hours, on holidays or weekends should be reported to the Officer (CDO) located in Building 8630. The phone number for the CDO is 1 (858) 307-1141. You will then report to the JRC at 0730 on the next working day.

MCAS Miramar is located north of downtown San Diego. It is against the communities of La Jolla, University City, Kearny Mesa and Mira Mesa. It is a very short drive from San Diego. The base is surrounded by major highways 805 and 15, as well as Highway 52, making travel convenient from any direction.

San Diego is beautiful no matter where you are. Remember, the closer to the coast you live, the more expensive things will be. There is a significant increase in price based on whether you are looking east or west of I-5. The waterfront community of La Jolla is like the Beverly Hills of San Diego. It is very expensive. Solana Beach and Del Mar are great for renters, especially with military BAH. For those looking to buy, it makes more sense to look in the Mira Mesa and Sorrento Valley areas. La Mesa and El Cajon areas.

This area is one of the few suburbs that has its own businesses and restaurants. It is centrally located, short commute, safe and clean and close to shops and restaurants.

A very nice suburb, Del Cerro is safe, has the best schools, has a beautiful view and is still close to the base.

A diverse and densely populated area, this is a good place for affordable housing. It is close to many social amenities, with good public transport and reasonable housing prices.

This is a kid-friendly neighborhood with large homes and yards. Recommended for military personnel to find a large house and yard at a reasonable price for the area.

A residential area in the north of San Diego, which is a relatively new and very pleasant community. It's also very pet and kid friendly, with the best schools in San Diego. It is also considered the safest place in all of San Diego County, even though it is a short drive from the base.

Elementary students will attend school in the San Diego Unified School District or Poway Unified School District. Note that there is no bus service for San Diego Unified School District except for special education and magnet schools. Poway offers buses for students.

The Lincoln Public School System outside the base serves Kindergarten through Grade 8. High school students are transported to Bedford High School or Shawsheen Valley Tech High School.

What is the weather like in San Diego? In a word? agree. That sums it all up. The weather is usually sunny with the exception of brief periods during April and May when it is usually cloudy. San Diego residents call it "Grey May." Also, expect summers that can reach the 90s and possibly the low 100s, especially further inland. The climate is dry, hot and desert. The morning in the spring has some fog, but the sea layer burns by noon. Winters rarely dip below the high 50s, so you'll be comfortable in flip-flops most of the year.
