Barber Shop Schofield Barracks - Welcome to Schofield Barracks, home of the US Army Garrison Hawaii headquarters, on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii! The garrison's beginnings date back to 1908, but the facility grew rapidly during World War II. The installation has served in various support roles in the Pacific and is home to the 25th Infantry Division (Light), the US Army Hawaii Support Command, the 45th Corps Support Group (Forward), and the Air Defense Command. US Army Law (Prov.). The garrison is based at Wheeler Army Airfield and serves nearly 100,000 soldiers, civilians and family members stationed in the Hawaiian Islands.
Schofield Barracks is just one of 22 Army installations located around the islands and home to the 25th Infantry Division. It is located in the foothills of the Waianae Mountains on Oahu and covers an area of 17,725 acres.

The base is located in the central part of the island of Oahu, outside the town of Wahiawa.
Daniela K. Inouye International Airport is the main airport on the island of Oahu. The airport is located in downtown Honolulu, just 18 miles away. Upon first arrival, all arrivals must report to the US Army Air Replacement Company of Hawaii Airport Liaison Desk at Baggage Claim 19. From there, you may be directed to be transported to Barracks.
The barracks does not offer a separate transfer. There are direct, flat-rate transfers from the airport to Schofield Barracks from private companies such as Honolulu Airport Transfer. Remember to book at least 24 hours before arrival.
Moving to Hawaii is complicated if you are shipping goods home or a vehicle from the mainland. Transport-PPPO will assist you with your needs to get your goods and vehicle home.

Guards will perform 100% ID checks at all gates. All visitors must have a valid military ID or go to the visitor control center to obtain a permit. Due to current COVID measures, be sure to show your IDs with barcodes in front of the guard so he can scan them without touching them. All arriving soldiers will report to US Army Replacement Company-Hawaii. You can pre-check at the Airport Liaison counter next to baggage claim 19 at London International Airport. Daniel K. Inouye. Soldiers must have a copy of their warrants, a clearance form, a POV distribution form, and a flight plan that lists all dependents. From there you will be redirected to further check-in. The airport liaison office is open 24/7.

Oahu is a small enough island that you can imagine living almost anywhere and commuting to work within an hour. The closest town to Schofield, however, is Wahiawa, a less touristy central village. Heading south along the H2, you'll come across Mililani, Waipio and then Pearl City, which is just west of Honolulu.
According to Living Studies, the top cities for the military in terms of cost of living, affordability, access to the post office and desirable neighborhoods are Pearl City, Aiea and Mililani. Mililani is a little more suburban and away from the tourist areas, while Pearl City is more of an urban place where you're likely to find the most common housing available.

There are no DoD schools at Schofield Barracks, so students will attend local schools in the area. Schools affiliated with the Schofield area fall under the Central Hawaii Public District. You can use the convenient school finder app to find the schools closest to where you live on the island.
Schools connected to the boundaries of Schofield Barracks are Solomon Elementary School and Daniel K. Inouye Elementary School (formerly Hale Kua), Wheeler Middle School, and Leilehua Middle School.
The island of Oahu is a tropical paradise. The weather can vary greatly depending on which part of the island you are in and what winds are blowing in the mountains. The island lies at a latitude similar to the Caribbean, so you can expect warm and pleasant tropical weather all year round. On average, there is slightly more rain in the winter months, but the days are slightly less humid than in the later summer months. Summers are warm with lows in the 70s and highs into the mid 90s. Winds depend on which part of the island you are on and the North Shore is famous for its strong winds that cause big waves. The south side is sheltered and perfect for long drives and beach fun. Rain can be lashing the mountains on one side, while just a mile away on the other side of the ridge it's a sunny, beautiful day. Enjoy the sun and surf, but always have a light rain jacket on hand!

There are literally hundreds of places all over the island where you can rent surfboards, kayaks and paddle boards. It's always worth taking a lesson from friendly guides who live for the waves. More adventurous and experienced surfers can try the beautiful and great surf on the North Shore near Turtle Bay Resort.
A popular day trip is the Dole Plantation, with Dole Whip pineapple ice cream, pineapple field tours and performances by local performers.
Horseback riding through the mountains and fields offers amazing views of the island. Gunstock Ranch has friendly staff and gentle horses for both beginners and advanced riders.
Hiking is a fantastic activity with many trails through jungles, botanical gardens, ridges, fields, waterfalls, beach and cliff paths, even military posts and World War II bunkers.
